Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police modernizes visitor management with Qsome

Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police is responsible for maintaining public safety and order. It serves both the public and authorities and always acts in the public interest. To welcome visitors more efficiently, direct requests appropriately, and modernize internal processes, the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police introduced Qsome as a professional customer flow and visitor management system.

Initial situation

As part of the modernization of visitor management, the existing Qmatic legacy application was to be replaced with a flexible, future-proof solution. The objective was to process citizen requests more efficiently, make waiting times transparent, and manage different services, organizational units, and communication channels within a centralized platform.

Qsome introduced a modern solution that supports traditional counter services as well as digital services, appointment management, and video consultations.

What was introduced with Qsome?

Qsome was implemented at the Basel-Stadt Cantonal Police as a comprehensive customer flow management system, replacing the previous Qmatic solution. The new platform supports various departments, services, and customer journeys within one centralized system.

An important component of the solution is the introduction of video booths for key citizen services such as filing reports. This enables requests to be handled securely, efficiently, and independently of location.

For visitor check-in, modern self-service terminals were introduced. These allow easy on-site registration and ensure structured visitor guidance.

Appointment management was also comprehensively modernized. Qsome supports resource allocation, flexible customer communication, and appointment integration via API. The solution seamlessly connects digital and physical service channels.

The collaboration with Qsome/e-nov8 was professional, solution-oriented, and cooperative from the outset. During the requirements analysis phase, the project team demonstrated a clear understanding of the organization’s needs.
